Nurse Aide Training Program
What is a Nurse Aide?
A Nurse Aide (NA) is an individual who has completed an approved Nurse Aide Training (NAT) Program. In Indiana, the NAT Program is a 105-Hour course that consists of 30 hours of classroom and 75 hours of clinical instruction.
Following successful completion of the 105-hour program, the individual qualifies to take the Indiana Competency Evaluation (State Test). The State Test is both a written and skills test.
After passing both the written and skills portions of the State Test, the individual is now a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA). As a CNA, an individual can work in long term care facilities or nursing homes. The CNA assists residents with activities of daily living, while maintaining their dignity and treating them with love and respect.
Nurse Aide Training Program Approval
All Nurse Aide Training Programs in Indiana must have approval from the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) before conducting any classes.
The staff at Healthcare Education Consultants have experience in establishing new programs. The approval process required by IDOH includes submission of an application and supporting documentation as outlined on our resources page.
